Rotor is a thrash metal band from Jakarta. Formed in 1991, fronted by Irvan Sembiring. The band has skyrocketed its name after successfully supporting Metallica's concert act for two consecutive days at the Lebak Bulus stadium in Jakarta in 1993.
Although formed in Jakarta, the stage debut Rotor is in Taman Hati Bogor. In a rock performance held by a Bogor private radio station, this thrasher quartet performed with his metallic colleagues from Jakarta, among them Atomic and Alien Scream. At that time they still carry the song belonging to the Brazilian band Sepultura.
During his eight-year musical career, Rotor brings four albums to three different major labels: AIRO, Hemagita and Warner Music Indonesia. Before disbanding officially, Judapran the bass player Rotor died of overdose due to drugs. Finally, their former vocalist Jodie (the charismatic vocalist) also died. The remaining members are now only the founder and guitarist Rotor, M. Irvan Sembiring, who has been hanging the guitar forever and pursue his new life sheet as a preacher.
In 2011, Irvan intends to re-establish Rotor by hooking up new personnel, and plans to release a new album. But the making of the new album is void, it is believed because Irvan is difficult to share the time of his da'wah and band activities.
